At the 2025 New York Travel & Adventure Show, held in late January at the Javits Center, Travel Unity occupied a unique space as an exhibitor focused specifically on the systemic side of diversity, equity, and inclusion. While much of the show’s LGBTQ Pavilion focused on specific destinations like Thailand or Key West, Roni Weiss provided a broader perspective on how political climates affect traveler behavior across the board.
In the Gay City News article, Weiss noted that travelers often do not separate a region’s political decisions from the destination itself. He stated:
“Unfortunately, as much as we might want to distinguish the political class and political decisions from the rest of society and the populace, travelers don’t always make that division. So, when there are policies that seem to be attacking… certain groups, it impacts people who believe in inclusion and want to support, give their money to and go to places that are inclusive.”
