These include the businesses and organizations that directly shape and deliver the travel experience.

Some organizations operate across multiple segments, so the boundaries are not always exact. Businesses that support travel but do not primarily provide travel experiences are considered ancillary services.

Businesses and properties that provide overnight lodging, including hotels, resorts, hostels, vacation rentals, and similar options.

Attractions & Retail

Places people visit for activities, entertainment, culture, or shopping, including museums, theme parks, historic sites, visitor attractions, shops, and markets.

Cruises

Businesses whose primary product is a cruise experience, particularly cruise lines and ship operators.

Destination Organizations

Organizations that promote, manage, or support tourism in a particular place, including tourism boards, convention and visitors bureaus, destination marketing organizations, destination management organizations,  and destination stewardship organizations.

Dining

Businesses that provide food and beverage services, including restaurants, cafés, bars, catering companies, and food-service operations within travel venues.

Gaming

Casinos, gaming resorts, sportsbooks, and other businesses where gaming is a significant part of the visitor experience.

Health & Wellness

Travel experiences and businesses focused on health, personal care, fitness, relaxation, or treatment, including spas, wellness retreats, medical tourism, and travel health services.

MICE

The part of the industry focused on meetings, incentives, conferences, conventions, exhibitions, and other business events.

Recreation & Outdoors

Businesses and organizations that provide outdoor, recreational, and adventure experiences, including parks, campgrounds, guided activities, trails, equipment rentals, and nature-based tourism.

Sports & Entertainment

Sports venues, live performances, festivals, concerts, theaters, and other experiences built around spectators, audiences, or organized entertainment.

Companies and platforms that support how travel is researched, booked, managed, and experienced, including reservation systems, travel apps, software, data services, and online marketplaces.

Companies that design and deliver tours, itineraries, and travel packages. Destination management companies provide local expertise, transportation, activities, and other on-the-ground services.

Transportation

Businesses that move travelers between or within destinations, including airlines, rail companies, buses, ferries, car rentals, rideshare services, and other transportation providers.

Professionals and businesses that help travelers research, plan, book, and manage trips based on their needs and preferences.
