Certified by Travel Unity (CBTU) validates an organization’s implementation of inclusive practices.
Travel Unity measures that implementation through alignment with our Inclusion Standards, which look at how inclusion shows up across leadership and workforce, community relationships, and traveler experiences.
Organizations move through four certification levels, beginning with baseline commitment and continuing through documented internal practices, community impact, and traveler-facing experiences.
Organizations do not need to be Travel Unity Alliance members, use Travel Unity consulting, or have staff complete individual certifications to earn CBTU. Many choose to use these offerings because they can help strengthen implementation and make the certification process easier to complete.
CBTU is designed for visitor-facing travel organizations, including destination organizations, attractions, tour companies, hotels and resorts, museums, and cultural institutions.
Throughout the CBTU process, organizations demonstrate alignment with Travel Unity's Inclusion Standards across three core pillars.

Welcoming experiences, communications, and traveler support
Organizations progress through four levels, moving from baseline commitment to workforce alignment, community engagement, and traveler-facing implementation.
Demonstrate baseline public and internal commitments to inclusion and set short-term goals for continued progress.
Document policies, protocols, and practices that support inclusion across internal operations and workforce practices.
Show how inclusion is applied through stakeholder relationships, supply chain practices, civic engagement, and workforce development.
Demonstrate traveler-facing implementation through welcoming experiences, communications, campaigns, feedback, and advocacy.
CBTU is designed as a progression. Organizations certified at Levels One, Two, and Three maintain certification by advancing to the next level within 18 months.
Organizations that reach Level Four maintain certification by recertifying every three years.
Pricing reflects the level of guidance required during certification.
Organizations with a CDTP-certified leader qualify for reduced pricing because they require less support throughout the certification process.
