Volunteers interview travel professionals and organizations and write up what they do. You build the page on travelunity.org yourself, Travel Unity reviews it, and then you make the social post that shares it. This page has everything you need, start to finish.
The Volunteer AI Assistant is an AI tool (a Google Gemini Notebook) that has read all of our volunteer guides. It can make mistakes, so check its answers against the guide. You need to be signed in to a Google account to use it. Questions for a person: [email protected].
1
Fill out the volunteer application. Say whether you want to write a Spotlight (a person) or a Case Study (an organization).
2
We approve your subject and create your website login. You get an email from the website to set your password.
3
Follow the Spotlight Writing Guide or the Case Study Report Guide. The person or organization checks your facts and gives written permission to publish.
4
Log in at travelunity.org/wp-admin, click Spotlights or Case Studies, then Add New. Fill in the ready-made layout and click Submit for Review. Then send your approvals.
5
Once we tell you your page is live, make a Canva design, write two captions with the AI assistant, and submit your social post. We post it on Travel Unity’s accounts.
Do this right after you click Submit for Review on your page. We cannot publish without written permission from the person or organization you featured.
Fast answers about any step, from interview questions to captions. It is an AI tool, so it can be wrong: check what it tells you against the guide.
For logins, approvals, a stuck page, or anything the assistant cannot answer, email [email protected]. Add a screenshot if something on the website is not working. A Travel Unity staff member will reply.
See published Spotlights and Case Studies for examples.
Submit Your Social Post
Do this only after we tell you your page is live. You send us one Canva design and two captions. We review them and post them. Please do not post them yourself.
A
Make the Design
Open the Canva template that matches your page. It makes your own copy. Use only text, quotes and photos from your published page. Delete any part the page does not support. You need a free Canva account.
B
Write the Captions
Open the Volunteer AI Assistant, paste the prompt below, then paste the full text of your published page under it. Check every name, title, number and quote against your page before you submit. No em dashes, no big claims, 2 or 3 hashtags.
