The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) and Travel Unity have established a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster a more inclusive and culturally respectful travel industry. Signed at the International Inbound Travel Association’s Summit in early 2025, this collaboration focuses on amplifying Indigenous voices and ensuring Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian perspectives are integrated into global tourism standards. By combining AIANTA’s expertise in cultural heritage with Travel Unity’s framework for diversity and equity, the organizations aim to move beyond performative representation toward meaningful, community-led tourism.

The partnership provides a platform for sharing resources, educational opportunities, and networking to benefit Indigenous tourism operators and the broader travel sector. AIANTA CEO Sherry L. Rupert emphasized that the alliance is a vital step in making Indigenous tourism both culturally sensitive and accessible to all travelers. Similarly, Travel Unity’s Roni Weiss noted that the collaboration offers an invaluable opportunity to build a shared vision for the industry—one where authentic stories and traditions are honored while creating sustainable economic benefits for Indigenous communities.
